Burnley Council adopt Marshal Eye

North West Fire Training has been delivering fire safety training Burnley Council for over sixteen years, making them the very first local authority we ever worked with. That long-standing relationship has been built on trust, consistency, and a shared commitment to keeping people safe.

Over the years, we have delivered fire marshal and fire warden courses across a wide range of council premises, always incorporating live practical fire extinguisher training to ensure staff are confident in real-world scenarios. However, as working practices have evolved, so too have the challenges faced by organisations.

Office-based staff are increasingly working flexibly or from home, meaning it has become far more difficult to pre-nominate specific individuals for emergency roles who may or may not be on site at the time of an incident. This creates real operational challenges during a fire alarm or evacuation, where certainty and clarity are critical.

It was this exact issue, seen repeatedly while delivering training, that led to the development of Marshal Eye. The app allows staff to opt into roles at the point of an incident, providing immediate visibility of who is available, who is responding, and what actions are being taken — regardless of flexible or hybrid working patterns.

We are genuinely thrilled that Burnley Council has now adopted Marshal Eye, becoming the first local authority to take this step. It reflects a forward-thinking approach to modern fire safety and incident response, and we’re proud to continue supporting them as working environments continue to evolve.
